More model informationThis feature is recorded on the maps as an “Old Limekiln”. It is in fact a type of lime kiln known as a pye kiln. They seem to be found only in the White Peak area of the Peak District. This one is a particularly well preserved example and it has been decided to stabilise the structure to reduce any further deterioration. This will involve rebuilding some of the walling and the Derbyshire Branch of the Dry Stone Walling Association has been tasked with this work.
Update: I have now uploaded the 3D model of the completed work
