The Pyxis was a box used to store jewelry and other small valuable objects. The Pyxis’ lid is decorated with a series of curved lines. These might represent the waves of the ocean, surrounding the island of Crete and influencing their culture. The holes on the handles and lid were probably inlaid with precious stones.
