The Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PzH 2000 for short) is a self-propelled, armored cannon howitzer produced by the German companies Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Rheinmetall. It is the standard gun of the Bundeswehr’s artillery troops and replaced the M109 self-propelled howitzer. The Bundeswehr’s armored artillery received a total of 185 units between 1998 and 2003; further PzH 2000s were delivered to several European NATO member states. Although the PzH 2000 is more than twice as heavy as the M109, it has numerous advantages over it. In particular, the effective firing range, accuracy, rate of fire, armor protection, independent operational capability as well as the power-to-weight ratio, range, speed and driving comfort of the Panzerhaubitze have been significantly improved. It can be used both in conventional operations and in asymmetric combat scenarios for indirect fire support. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzerhaubitze_2000
