The Qamshy is one of the oldest horse-drawn tools. It was deeply rooted in the economic and cultural life of the Kazakh people in ancient times. Primarily used for horse riding, it also served as a self-defense tool on certain occasions. Today, while its practical use has diminished, the Qamshy has become a symbol of well-being. It is often displayed on the wall in nearly every household in Kazakhstan.
