More model information

Qattar ad-Deir is a small Nabataean sanctuary tucked into a shady side gorge on the stepped path to the Monastery (Ad-Deir) in Petra. Here water still drips from the sandstone cliffs into rock-cut basins, turning the space into a rare desert watering place and sacred meeting point. Under the broad rock overhang are cult niches for betyls, a carved triclinium (banqueting hall), inscriptions and graffiti left by ancient worshippers. A long, leveled terrace in front of the cliff marks out the sanctuary, offering a quiet pause on the climb and a glimpse into Petra’s religious life around the 1st century AD.

GDH created this model using 60 Leica RTC360 laser scans and 2300 images from Canon R5 and GoPro. The data was processed using RealityScan, Geomagic and Blender.

This project was a collaboration between the PDTRA, DoA, GDH, and ACOR.
