The Qbot colony world was destroyed in a long-ago war. Ancient technology litters the surface of the planet, like this warp gate station. Most are still in operation, powered by geothermal shafts sunken deep into the planet’s mantle.

Players can use the gates for instantaneous travel to other regions— but the gates don’t always operate correctly, and players who pass through them may find themselves in the Haunted City, a hidden level of the game with no easy way out, inhabited by skyscraper-tall monsters they need to avoid to survive.
