RAF Leeming, opened in 1940, was jointly used by the RAF and the Royal Canadian Air Force. From 1950 to 1991, it operated as a training base with Quick Reaction Force Panavia Tornado F3s. Since 2006, it has housed the RAF communications cadre (No. 90 Signals Unit) and No. 135 Expeditionary Air Wing.
