A figure of a rearing horse in bronze, on a marble base, that was once reputedly one of three 16th century figures from a cast linked to a drawing by Leonardo Da Vinci. However, the Hunt Museum horse underwent material analysis and x-ray which indicated that it was comprised of 84% copper, 7% tin, 6% lead and 1% zinc, as well as traces of iron, nickel and silver. It has thus been dated to the end of the nineteenth century.
