Reconstruction of Mesolithic hut at the archaeological park ‘Prehistorische Nederzetting Swifterkamp’ (Lelystad, the Netherlands), built in August 2017. Collaborative project initiated by the Swifterkamp park and an enthusiastic group of Archaeology students (Studievereniging Bachur) from the University of Groningen.
This is a reconstruction of a Mesolithic hut (10,000-5,000 BCE), a seasonal dwelling that served as a communal lodging for groups of people travelling from region to region. From here, a large range of activities would be performed like hunting and fishing, depending on the seasonal availability of game, construction material and food.
