More model informationThis recumbent monument was found when the former parish church was destroyed in 1869. Its convex upper surface, one end and both sides are decorated with relief carvings. The upper surface also bears a socket, possibly to hold an upright cross.
The carved stones at Meigle form one of the most important collections of Pictish and Early Christian sculpture in eastern Scotland. Most are carved in high relief, and a common theme is violence - between animals or men and animals.
This stone can be found in the Meigle Sculptured Stone Museum. For information on visiting, go to our website.
