レッサーパンダの咀嚼筋。巨大な側頭筋をもちながらも、左右の顎関節が弧を描く形状をしているため、臼歯による磨り潰しが行える。 食肉目としては顎関節を内側に引き戻す外側翼突筋の発達が見られ、食性との関連が示唆される。 なお、開口を司る顎二腹筋は省略している。

The development of the lateral pterygoid muscle that pulls the articuler process inward is seen, suggesting a relationship with eating habits. The digastric muscle that controls the opening is omitted.
