Folds in the Wagonga Beds at Myrtle Beach are generally inclined, north-south trending that plunge to the north. In some locations, evidence for an earlier folding event are present, as in this instance. Visible in this model is an earlier recumbent fold that has been refolded by the more upright folds and was also overprinted by the axial planar cleavage accompanying the later folds. Note that there has also been some faulting parallel to the cleavage. The lack of an earlier cleavage suggests the recumbent folding may have been soft-sediment deformation.

Small scale loading structures (load casts) also provide a sense of younging here on either side of the earlier phase of folding. The paler layers are slightly coarser grained than the darker ones and have formed load casts. These are tagged at annotations 4 & 5.
