More model informationJust before Dürnstein, elevated on the railroad line on the Watstein, is this monument in the form of a knight on a horse, accompanied by a traveling singer. Many believe it to be a monument to the English king Richard the Lionheart and the minstrel Blondel. Richard the Lionheart was captured at Dürnstein Castle in 1192. In fact, the group of figures symbolizes the chivalry and singing art of the Wachau. The knight bears the Kuenring coat of arms in his shield. The monument from 1958 was created by Lois Lidauer.
