Relief from Regne of Sargon II3D Model
Relief, Regne of Sargon II, 721-705, Duir-Sharrukin (Khorsabad) (palatial sector?), Alabaster gypsum. Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (Musée du Cinquantenaire, Brussels, Belgium). Made with Zephyr3D from 3DFlow.
The first Mesopotamian piece of our Museums, then still installed at the Gate of Hal, was bought in 1854 from Luigi Calamatta by Antoine G.B. Schayes (curator of 1847 to 1859). This is a relief from Khorsabad. This is probably not a chance if we know that the father-in-law of Calamatta, Raoul Rochette, as well as the painter J.A.D. Ingres was part of the commission that was preparing the publication of the results search of P.-E. Botta. MRAH, 0.48 (former collection P.-E. Botta, M. Raoul Rochette, L. Calamatta)
