The mythical male creature on this stone probably adorned the Renaissance castle built here in the 16th century. When converting it into a baroque palace, stonemasons simply reused the old stones. They turned over many stones that had already been hewn and redesigned the back. In Berlin there is only sand. Stones that were suitable for building the castle had to be transported from afar at great expense.
