According to the Life of St Millán of La Cogolla, the Cantabrians did not heed the saint’s warnings and received divine punishment in the form of Visigoths’ invasion. The relief shows Leovigildo’s entry into Peña Amaya, the Cantabrians’ capital in the north of the province of Burgos.
