Large format renaissance polychrome stove tiles from the excavation made in Rossgarten quarter of Königsberg (held by Baltspetsarkheologia in 2017-18). The images on them are the representations of Albrecht Dürer’s engravings from the cycle named “Small passions” (published in 1511). This detailed story of martyrdom and atoning death of Christ with addition of Old testament scenes consisted of 36 woodcuts and a cover page. Here on the stove tiles there are the images from the first sheet of the series named “The fall of the man”, the second sheet named “Adam and Eve expelled from Eden”, the third sheet “The Annunciation” and the fourth sheet of the series named “The Nativity (the adoration of the shepherds)”. The proportions of the original engravings were changed to fit the size of the tiles.
