Perhaps the most elaborate of all the pieces of furniture found in Hetepheres’s tomb, this chair should perhaps be called a throne, although no hieroglyphic inscriptions link it to either King Snefru or King Khufu. On both the inside and outside of the back are standards or emblems of the goddess Neith. These emblems show elements of beetles and crossed arrows. Above them is a frieze of curled and braided sidelocks or beards.
