In November 1660, the small warship Resande Man (Traveling Man) was on its way to Poland with an embassy for important negotiations on an alliance aimed at Russia. On board were the ambassador count von Schlippenbach and other diplomats. The embassy also brought gifts, which was normal on important diplomatic missions. Before leaving Stockholm’s southern archipelago, they suffered a severe storm and the ship was lost in the vicinity of Landsort, south of Stockholm archipelago. The count and over thirty people drowned in the roaring waves, but about twenty managed to save themselves ashore. The next day, five more people were rescued, who had spent the night in the main mast, which piled up over the surface. Hans Albrecht von Treileben recovered parts of Resande Mans cargo and cannons in 1661, a few years before he recovered cannons from Vasa. Resande Man was found in 2012 by Grebbestads marinarkeologiska sällskap.
