Rhodopsin is a G Protein coupled receptor (GPCR) found in the retina to convert light into into an electrical signal. It is a protein encoded for by the RHO gene. Mutations in this GPCR can lead to retinitis pigmentosa (RP), a degenerative disorder in the retina.
