The Romphaia was a weapon used by the Thracians, it is similar to the Dacian falx but with a longer blade and with only a slight curve. The Rhomphaia together with the falx are just a few of the weapons that forced the Romans to change their armor, in this case a reinforcement of the helm to counter the deadly blows.
