More model information

Erected in 1890 and located at the intersection of Monument Avenue and N Allen Avenue in Richmond, Virginia, the Lee statue was the first monument erected on this historic street. In May 2020 it was defaced during a series of protests and riots in response to George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis. On June 4th, 2020 Virginia’s governor announced that the statue will be removed.

The Monument Avenue documentation project is a collaborative effort between the Fairfield Foundation and the Virtual Curation Laboratory at VCU. The models were generated using a Phantom 4 Pro quadcopter and Agisoft Metashape photogrammetry software.
