Thin lines carved then inlaid with white clay create the lanes for multi-colored glazed bands on this spiraling chawan. The colorful exterior is balanced by the dark, murky interior—where someone will see emerald-green matcha bring the piece to life. Created by Shigaraki-based ceramic artist Ishiyama Tetsuya, this is a chawan born for the Heisei period.
