Takiguchi Kazuo(b.1953) is one of the most interesting and important Kyoto ceramic artists of the past 30 years. His original forms (and deftly painted smaller works) have earned him a slew of awards and a large following here in Japan as well as around the world. His works are in major museum collections in Japan and around the world. Recently he’s been taking his evocative forms and giving them a marbled-clay facade with the jagged lip creating an engaging-tense contrast to the organic form. This one is 27cm.tallx33cmx30.5cm and is 380,000 yen with a signed box.
