More model informationThis sherd is from the Hawkshaw site in downtown Pensacola, Florida. It’s from the Deptford culture and is an excellent example of a decoration called Rocker Impressed or Rocker Stamped. It is probably Bayou La Batre Stamped specifically. Have you ever seen a peice like this before? Archaeologists hypothsize that this pattern is created by rocking a shell back and forth on almost dired clay before the final firing. This piece is currently on display at the Archaeology Institute at the University of West Florida.
