High-power rocket built by University of Sheffield team SunrIde, the first UK rocket to ever compete in IREC’s Spaceport America Cup 2018, NM, the world’s largest intercollegiate rocketry engineering competition.
Named AMY, after british pioneering aviator Amy Johnson, it reached an altitude of 10,017 ft (approx. 3053 m), overshooting by just 17 ft (approx. 5 m) relative to the predicted apogee. It ultimately won the James Barrowman Award for Flight Dynamics.
