Cupae solidae (monument carved in stone), 2nd century AD, located in Plaça de la Vila de Madrid (Barcelona). This Roman funeral Way is one of several heritage sites of the Museu d’Història de Barcelona (MUHBA).

Roman cemeteries were located outside the sacred boundary of its cities (pomerium), so the tombs were on the sides of the roads leading to the cities. People passing by would read the inscriptions on the graves and pay respect to the deceased. This one reads “Faustianus, of Tertullina & Tertiola”.
