Area of Interest

The interactive map shows the study area of the PhD-Project Roman Rural Landscapes in Noricum. The project deals with the rural settlement in northern Noricum during Roman times. The study area is located in the “Mostviertel” in Lower Austria.

The project follows an inclusive approach, which means that all available archaeological sources in the sense of finds and features should be taken into account. The focus of the investigations is on the period of Roman rule in Noricum (15 BC to AD 488), but also deals with preceding and subsequent epochs.
