More model informationThis Roman brooch was found in the same animal enclosure as the previous bow brooch- this type is known as a trumpet brooch, so named because the open ends and tubes look like trumpets. Trumpet brooches are often heavy and highly decorated; on this example the bow head is a vertical oval in plan and on the back there is a vertical, perforated lug where the pin would have attached.
