Ruined Sphinx - Lions Bridge (Leigh, Lancashire) 3D Model
The partially exposed ruins of the former Georgian folly and local beauty spot known as Lion’s Bridge in Leigh, Lancashire. These ruins are currently being investigated as part of an ongoing Monument Men research project into the former estate of the Atherton Family. The bridge was constructed in the 1720’s by ‘Mad’ Richard Atherton and was once a feature of the Atherton Hall estate, comprising part of the mile-long formal lakeside entrance to the hall.
