This is a traditional stilt house (MAHS-IDN-NTT-ALR-PNT-S-003-F-0001) with a thatched, hip roof in Helang Dohi, Pantar, Alor Island. It features important symbolic architectural features such as the four wooden columns called Rie Mekeng and two wooden X-shaped planks in the middle of the roof ridge called Penetang Laki, which is believed to have the power to ward off negative influences. This house is also called Uma Bisara (Discussion House) as it is used as a communal gathering space to solve various issues, as well as to host celebrations such as marriages and ceremonial feasts.
