More model information

The xebec was a novel Mediterranean variation on both the galley and frigate. It was smaller than the archipelago frigate, had oars for rowing, and a morphable rig. A hybrid, mobile ship similar to the Swedish Pojama (Pohjanmaa) and Udema (Uusimaa) classes, numerous chebeques took part in the Second Battle of Svensksund on the Russian side. Minerva was captured during the battle and drawings were made by Swedish naval architects.

Hull dimensions: • Length at waterline: 36.5 m. Note long extremely extended stern castle beyond the hull. • Greatest width (breadth): 8.5 m • Greatest depth: 2.5 m

Ship 06, Russian chebeque (xebec) Minerva, closed sails, 16.5.2020, programs: 3ds Max, Modo, Photoshop, UE4.

This model was created in the Maritime Museum of Finland project “Historia eläväksi digitaalisella tarinankerronnalla” by Zoan Oy and is part of Smoke on the Waves experience at Maritime Centre Vellamo. https://kohtalonaruotsinsalmi.fi/
