I wanted to practice a bit of unusual anatomy (winged quadruped), fur textures, feathers, claws… so what better creature than a lovely gryphon !
Not a polished model at all, again, this was just quick practice.
Had loads of fun doing the feathers. All thanks to a couple of awesome Maya scripts I found on the internet:
First one helped me to paint different feathers with specified yet varying angles on several parts of the body: spPaint3d 2011.1 Contact email: spaviot@gmail.com Download URL: http://www.creativecrash.com/maya/downloads/scripts-plugins/utility-external/misc/c/sppaint3d
Then to anchor the feathers to the main body, I was saved by this wonderful script: **// djRivet.mel ** // // author: David Johnson // contact: david@djx.com.au // website: www.djx.com.au
