This silver, partly gold-plated salt cask was a gift from the Bad Frankenhausen salt works to the Count of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. A dwarf kneels on a base reminiscent of salt crystals, a bowl on his head. All around are lizards and coats of arms, one of which shows the date 06th November 1864. The occasion was possibly the discovery of the “Barbarossa Cave” in the same year.
