More model informationAbbey of San Benedetto in Polirone, or Polirone Abbey, founded in 1007 by Tedalt, Count of Canossa. In 1077 the community passed into the reformed Benedictines under the Abbey of Cluny. This is one of the few Romanesque remains of the construction of around 1100, the portal of the months. The romanesque structure was divided into two connected buildings, a large church dedicated to S. Simeone. The smaller church of St. Maria was also heavily influenced by the oratory dedicated to the Virgin at Cluny (1085). The main church was similar to Cluny III: columns and central pillars separated the monastic choir from the space of the laity.
