Sana Piano Pot
Author, Student Work This vase was created after learning about various traditional Native American pottery of the Southwest. This student was particularly attracted to the style of the San Ildelfonso Pueblo pottery. The piece was handbuilt with no assistance of a wheel and when dry a specialized slip called terra sigillata was sprayed on the outside of the piece and burnished to a high gloss. The line work was created using an exacto knife and incising through the slip to show the clay beneath. The piece was then smoke fired which caused the incised areas to turn black while.
The scan was created using a blend of photogrammetry and 3-D scanning. Our 3D scans/models are created, processed, and refined by our PVCC students and staff. These scans are a work in progress. The team will regularly update the gallery, models, and scans as this project progresses. Thanks for checking out the art.
