More model informationThe bottom-most portion of an earthenware “Olive Jar” (aka Botija in Spanish) recovered from the wreck of the Spanish galleon Santa Clara, sunk in 1564. The cross-mended piece is 20 centimeters at the widest, and averages between 6.0 and 6.5 millimeters thick. Remnants of a pitch coating that once made the jar impermeable can be seen on the interior face. Additionally, concentric lines on the interior face show the jar was wheel-thrown.
