More model informationLocated on Co. Clare’s Scattery Island in the Shannon Estuary is this 19th century gravestone with an elaborately symbolic crucifixion panel. This is a fine example of local folk art and dates from c. 1843. It contains both religious and secular motifs, and includes thirty pieces of sliver, a St Peter (dressed in 19th century attire), a roster rising from a cooking pot, and an allusion to the seafaring merchant activities of the family commemorated in the form of a sailing boat and a ship.
