Imitation of Italian imported ceramics: Since the price of imported tableware was very high due to production and transport costs, customs duties and the excellent quality, Pannonian potters tried to imitate Terra Sigillata vessels at a very early stage. These vessels are characterised by their excellent quality. In Carnuntum only imitations of undecorated vessels were produced.
