More model informationThis double-pointed stick (ID 1779) was discovered Schöningen in 1994. It is shaped from a spruce branch, and the presence of tool marks confirm it was worked by humans. The object is naturally curved, with both ends worked into fine points, and came from the same find horizon as the spears. The object measures 77.2 cm in length. It’s size and shape suggest it was used as a ‘throwing stick’, to be thrown rotationally at prey. The 3D models were constructed on the basis of two scans, made in 2021 by GOM Metrology (Brunswick) using the ATOS 5 optical High-Speed 3D Scanning System (single point accuracy = 0.0015 mm, maximum gap = 0.322 mm, unit edge length = 0.08 mm).
