Dense point cloud of 1,100,000,000 points (1.1 billion), decimated down to 5,000,000 points (5 million) for upload here.
Generated in 3DF Zephyr from ~35,000 photographs.
Model was produced in 18 discrete blocks which were then merged in 3DF using manually defined Control Points.
Total production time for the 1B point cloud included:
~40 hours for photo capture
~110 hours for Sparse
~330 hours for Dense
Computer specification: i5-4590, GTX 970, 32GB RAM (+224GB virtual memory = 256GB ‘RAM’). All files on SSDs.
Derived textured meshes (photogrammetry) will be used to render schematics for the area (town plan, architectural elevations), which will inform production of a high accuracy manual (i.e. CAD) model, ultimately for deployment in Virtual Reality or other real time applications.
