This small scroll belonged to Ruzeny Eisenberger, Katarina Fried’s maternal aunt. In 1941, Ruzeny was engaged to Frantisek Getreuer. They were deported in 1942 together to Theresienstadt, where they were married. The couple thought if they were married they would stay together, but he was deported first to Auschwitz-Birkenau where he was immediately gassed. Ruzeny was later deported and survived four different camps. She carried this scroll with her out of camp after liberation.
