Point clouds cand be use to study the relationship between reef’s structural complexity and the distribution and performance of coral recruits. Coupling environmental information with coral recruits locations, I use Species Distribution Models (SDMs) to characterize microhabitats suitable for recruitment, and evaluate how future changes in reefs’ structural complexity will affect coral recruitment. In these model I used Metashape to build and classify the dense point cloud, and CloudCompare to calculate its roughness and slope.
