More model information

One of the many welded rebar frames that are being put down to restore the coral coverage to the Sental dive site off of Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia. As we get fair bit of current here, if there’s any damage to the reef, the rubble left keeps ‘dancing’ down the reef, not allowing new corals to get a solid footing and grow, and also smothering other smaller ones in the rubble ‘river’ that flows off along and down the slope of the reef. So, if you give coral a solid foundation, like a steel, rebar frame, that’s solidly anchored into the rubble, and zip-tie lots of coral fragments to it, it then grows like crazy, as that current also brings all the food. Various species are tied on to different frames, which are collected from any nearby freshly damaged areas, damage cause by the current, turtles, triggerfish, divers, anchors, etc, etc. Withing a few months, a year, they’ve coverd the frame, and you’ll likely not be able to see the steel rebar frame under it ever again. This very quickly restores coverage.
