More model informationEgypt, Saqqara. Late Dynastic Period, 656-525 BCE. Limestone.
This limestone shabti was found in the Saqqara tomb of a royal scribe, Hor-Maakheru (Horus is True of Voice). Placed in the tomb to serve the scribe in the afterlife, the habti is inscribed with text from Chapter 6 of the Book of the Dead. Hor-Maarheru’s inscription deviates from the usual text that ends with the line, “Here I am’, you shall say.” He added, “… at each hour, strike down his obstacles, because he has found his time.”
