Shetland Whalsey Brough Rock Art upper panel

On a recent visit to Whalsey (9 June2024) we located the three panels at Brough, and recorded the two on the N side of the broch, referenced in Canmore ID 1299 on https://canmore.org.uk/site/1299/whalsay-brough Our record covers the exposed area. The Canmore record and discussion with a local man suggests there are other cup markings under the turf in the surrounding area. The bedrock is a coarse schist. This is the upper panel (exposed area 4.6m x 4.7mm) and slopes about 20deg to the N. 18 cups are exposed, of which 10 are in the centre of the exposed area. No rings can be seen.
