Shield Bearer and Avanyu (07_038_003_030Z)

The interesting designs on this panel include a shield bearer and avanyu, along with an unknown motif. Shield bearers reflect the importance of warrior identity in Tewa life, and shields are still seen at public Pueblo events today. This panel is also severely damaged: notice the bright spot to the right. A piece of this panel was removed, and we believe this piece is the avanyu we recorded as 07_038_003_026W. Compare these two models and decide for yourself whether or not they fit together.
