More model informationShield belonging to a suit of Parade Armour. At the Royal Armoury in Stockholm the suit of parade armour of Eric XIV is exhibited. It is a full body armour that was delivered to the king in 1562. It weighs 20,6 kg and is about 170 cm tall. The surface is completely covered with relief decor. There are scenes of battle, prisoners, shields and weapons as well as figures of the Gothic, Roman and Greek mythology and ornamental plants and flowers. We can also see symbols of the Swedish kingdom. Many artisans worked together to complete the armour. The relief decor was made by the goldsmith Eliseus Libaerts. The armour was worn by Eric XIV as he rode into Stockholm, on the 22 October 1564, after the victory against Denmark.
