Some scanners out there would struggle reconstructing in 3D a large and featureless object like this one, which measures three meters (10 ft) in diameter. For this project, however, no scanner was needed at all. This propeller was filmed with a smartphone for less than three minutes, and the groundbreaking AI Photogrammetry tool in Artec Studio 19 was enough to turn the footage into an immaculate 3D model.
With software upgrades introduced in 2024, you can feed photos or videos to Artec Studio, which was done in this case. When importing a video, the software splits the footage into frames and aligns them in a 3D space, letting you choose between creating models of separate objects or entire scenes. You are free to get rid of any unwanted data and apply high-definition texture to obtain a truly lifelike 3D model.
Give this propeller a spin to see how crisp its blades and central hub came out. This stunning digital twin features even signs of wear and tear — all thanks to Artec Studio’s AI Photogrammetry.
