One of several shoes and boots recovered from the Royal Adelaide, which, bound for Australia, was wrecked on Chesil Beach, 25th November 1872. This probably belonged to a child.
All but seven on board survived, although during the night, four people died from exposure having become drunk on the ship’s cargo of brandy, rum and wine washed up on the shore.
